A beautiful crescent Moon graced the morning and evening skies over the past holiday weekend, and skywatchers around the world were out with with their cameras! Above, Suraky from British Columbia, Canada took this lovely image of the waning sliver of the Moon from his bedroom window. “The Moon was lit by Earthshine on the dark side, at 7am, with Baker poking out between the trees,” he commented on the image.

Question: why is the crescent the wrong way around in the Italian picture?
Indeed, something must be wrong. Either the picture was taken is in the southern hemisphere, flipped image or fake. I cannot see another explanation.
Ancora la Basilica di Superga?! Still the Basilica of Superga?!
The crescent Moon in twilight sky over landscape silhouette is really lovely. At first glance, it did not impress; but in click of closer look, it became frame-able art (nicely balanced!). So too, I thought, the branch-work-silhouette of winter at Ashby’s Mill, under sky of subtle hues.
Ooh ! Anorexic Moon ! Creepy !
