Randy Halverson has released a new timelapse video of the night sky shot at the White River in central South Dakota during September and October 2011. There are also some shots from Arches National Park in Utah, and Canyon of the Ancients area of Colorado during June 2011.
And if you’re really interested in Randy’s timelapse videos, you can purchase an extended cut version here.
Absolutely Stunning
A bright meteor that leaves behind a reddish, twisting train appears at 0:52. Phil had a post about it over at Bad Astronomy: http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2011/10/02/a-meteors-lingering-tale/
There were Auroras in Colorado?! Had no idea they went that far south?
Awesome video! Does anyone know the name of the piano piece used as background music? I loved it too!
